Springfield, MA – Congressman Richard E. Neal outlined the tremendous impact that the American Rescue Plan has made in the lives of Americans nearly four months after it was signed into law on March 11, 2021. “Thanks to this rescue legislation, we can see the results of our hard work. The American Rescue Plan included essential payments that have put money into the pockets of hardworking Massachusetts residents so that they can afford basics like rent and groceries,” said Congressman Neal. “These payments also assisted our local businesses in bouncing back and kept our economy going so we could get more Americans back to work. Though we remain vigilant, we are heartened with the fact that our economy is getting stronger and we are creating good-paying American jobs. The evidence is clear: the American Rescue Plan is changing the course of the pandemic and delivering relief for all Americans.” THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN - More than 150 million Americans are fully vaccinated. More than two-thirds of adults in the U.S. have received at least one dose. Here in Massachusetts, 61.3% of residents are fully vaccinated. - The American Rescue Plan sent $6 billion to local Community Health Centers to help them distribute vaccines. Massachusetts received $146,570,375 to support 37 health centers and $14,524,250 of that went to CD-1. - More than 163 million Economic Impact Payments, totaling nearly $390 billion have made their way into the hands of hardworking Americans this year. - Monthly Child Tax Credit Payments of up to $300 per child will start hitting banks accounts July 15th for nearly all hardworking families. That’s roughly 39 million households, covering almost 90 percent of children nationwide. - The Child Tax Credit will benefit 85.8% of children in CD-1, lifting 8,300 children out of poverty. - The American Rescue Plan invested $130 billion to help schools reopen safely, stay open safely and make up for lost learning time - including $354.5 million to CD-1. - The American Rescue Plan also sent $45 billion to help states keep child care and Head Start programs open, keep workers on the job, and lower costs for working families. This included $510.5 million to Massachusetts and $2.4 million to Head Start Programs in CD-1. - The economy is growing faster than at any time in the last 40 years. We’ve created 2 million jobs since President Biden took office and cut unemployment claims in half. ## |
