SPRINGFIELD, MA – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Trade Representative’s (USTR) new Section 301 investigations into several countries’ proposed or adopted digital service taxes: “My position on this matter hasn’t changed – I continue to oppose unilateral digital services taxes and support a multilateral solution. I hope Treasury can continue to engage with the OECD and work towards an outcome the protects U.S. workers and businesses. I also intend for the Committee to remain in close contact with USTR and Treasury regarding this issue. I hope that USTR is able to diversify its tools for enforcement and use them strategically in service of an optimal outcome.” ### |
