Chairman Neal Statement on Trump Administration’s Support of California v. Texas
Washington, DC,
June 26, 2020
Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) responded to the Trump Administration’s filing of a brief in support of California v. Texas, a lawsuit that seeks to strike down the Affordable Care Act (ACA): “By filing their brief in support of California v. Texas, the Trump Administration is continuing their shameless sabotage of our health care system at a time when they should be singularly focused on helping the country through a global health crisis. There is no logical reason to threaten critical protections for those with pre-existing conditions or to dismantle the law and drive up costs system-wide. Americans are relying on their health insurance now more than ever. “If this crisis has taught us anything, it is that our focus should be on enhancing the ACA and doing everything we can to make accessing health care easier, which is exactly what House Democrats are fighting to do. The Ways and Means Committee is committed to defending health care protections for those with pre-existing conditions and expanding care for all.” ### |
