Neal Votes for Passage of Emergency Coronavirus Response Funding
Washington, DC,
March 5, 2020
Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after voting in favor of an emergency supplemental appropriations bill to address the coronavirus (COVID-19): “As our country stares down a growing public health crisis, this emergency funding will help improve preparedness, devote resources to accelerate vaccine development, and provide responding health workers with the medical supplies they need. To remedy the virus’s potential economic consequences in communities, the legislation allows for low-interest loans to affected small businesses. I’m glad that the bill also permits seniors to access telemedicine services for coronavirus treatment and includes support for Community Health Centers. While this comprehensive package will strengthen our nation’s response to this crisis, I also plan to continue my work as Chair of the Ways and Means Committee to further ensure federal coronavirus efforts are as safe, efficient, and effective as possible.” ### |
