Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, United States Congressman Richard E. Neal, Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted 232-196 in favor of H.Res.660, “Directing certain committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing House of Representatives inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, and for other purposes.”

“Today, we find ourselves at the intersection of history,” said Congressman Richard E. Neal. “The impeachment inquiry vote that was taken today was not done lightly. The resolution provides the path forward for public hearings as part of the next phase of the House impeachment inquiry. It is time that President Trump be held accountable for his actions. The American people expect truth and transparency from their government and the time for that has come. While it is unfortunate that we have come to this point in our democracy, as Thomas Paine once said, ‘the times have found us.’”
