Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released their latest analysis that reaffirmed the harm of the GOP reconciliation bill:
“Today’s CBO analysis paints an even bleaker picture than we previously imagined: $2.4 trillion will be added to the debt and even more Americans will lose their health care under Republicans’ watch than previously thought. It’s the biggest theft of health care in American history, and they’re racing to pass it on rushed timelines and in the dead of night before their own members, let alone the public, can catch on. More than a trillion dollars cut from Americans’ health, raising costs on families already struggling in Trump’s economy.
“Republicans are lashing out at nonpartisan scorekeepers for doing their jobs because the truth exposes just how cruel and dangerous their plan really is. But the math doesn’t lie. With this plan, the rich get handouts, and everyone else pays the price.”
