SPRINGFIELD, MA— Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) put out the following statement ahead of Labor Day 2025:
“Labor Day is a celebration of our nation’s workers: for building our country and for their continued work to make it the America we know and love. But this year, they are facing an unprecedented assault from Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress. Trump is driving up prices on everything from school supplies to groceries, all while making the largest cuts to health care in history and showering billionaires with handouts.
“House Democrats stand proudly with workers. We will never stop fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare, defend organized labor, and ensure that every worker shares in the prosperity they create. On this Labor Day, let’s recommit ourselves to the basic truth: the strength of America has always come from the success of the masses, not the grift and greed of the powerful few.”
