WASHINGTON, DC— Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the December 2025 jobs report:
“Trump and Republicans are ringing in 2026 the same way they spent 2025: robbing opportunity from the workforce and soaring costs on the American family. Today’s report is yet another blow to workers struggling to get by in Trump’s failed economy.
“Long-term unemployment has ballooned, jobless claims are rising, and manufacturing has contracted for ten straight months. This is Trump’s failures in action. He’s made clear his indifference to lowering costs, saving health care, and building jobs for a brighter tomorrow. But that only strengthens Democrats’ resolve to fight for the people.”
