SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A memorandum outlining an agreement between the U.S. and Iran is currently being drafted, which includes provisions for Tehran to dilute enriched uranium and for the U.S. to waive sanctions.

The agreement is also set to open the Strait of Hormuz toll-free for two months and addresses tensions between Israel and Lebanon, with a signing scheduled for Friday. The draft agreement commits the U.S. to affirming Lebanon’s territorial integrity following a recent Israeli attack against Hezbollah within Lebanese territory.

According to details released by a U.S. official who read the draft to journalists, the agreement specifies that sanctions on Iran would be waived but not permanently ended.

Congressman Richard Neal has expressed concerns regarding the ongoing discussions, stating that “some of the rhetoric that has come from the White House, once again, is pretty inconsistent, and I don’t know what the meaning is.” Neal also added, “I do think that it is a reminder that this is a war of choice.”

Both countries are set to sign the deal on Friday.
