Questions about Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump’s relationship are growing.

This comes just weeks after the U.S. attorney general and the Trump Administration shared they would release investigative files on Epstein.

Congressman Richard Neal says that ‘no one contributed more to the notion of the conspiracy than the president, and now he’s trying to walk back things that he previously said.’

Earlier this month, the U.S. attorney general requested that federal judges unseal transcripts from the grand jury investigation of Jeffrey Epstein. That request was denied.

22News asked Congressman Neal what’s included in the documents and whether Congress will vote to release them.

“I don’t think anybody has any idea, but I think what’s happened is that the base of the Republican Party, they want the documents released, and I think that that’s changed the formula,” Congressman Neal said.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Ghislaine Maxwell and her attorney just last week. His motive was to question Maxwell on what other individuals may have been a part of the sexual abuse.

There is a House committee looking into the Epstein files, and Democratic lawmakers are pushing for a subpoena. Whether Congress can depose Maxwell is also in discussion.
