Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Richard E. Neal released the following statement after voting against H.R. 5371 – Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026.

“House Republicans have once again shown us where their priorities lie: with the billionaire class. They had no problem permanently extending tax cuts earlier this year for the wealthiest Americans. Now, as millions face higher premium costs, or losing their health insurance altogether, they have turned their backs on everyday Americans. In other words, as prices are on the rise from the Trump Administration’s reckless tariff policy, Republicans would rather shut down the government than bring down costs for the American people. As a result, the middle-class will now face the highest healthcare premium hike in fifteen years. Democrats will not be party to this abdication of responsibility, and we will continue to stand up and defend the healthcare of American families.”
