SPRINGFIELD, MA— Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s latest giveaway to big corporations:
“The Trump Administration will stop at nothing to unlock new ways for their wealthy friends to skirt the rules and shovel money to shareholders. This new guidance ignores the clear language of the tax code and is right out of the Republican playbook to pull any lever to further rig the system for those at the top. The corporate minimum tax serves an important role in preventing giant corporations from skirting accountability. But rather than serving as careful stewards of taxpayer money, this Treasury Department has turned the guidance process into a crooked tool to subvert the law, hide the actual cost, and sweeten the deal for the ultra-rich.
“As filing season presses on, Republicans are once again reminding the American people, they’ll permanently cut taxes for those at the top while socking everyone else with temporary relief, fewer filing season resources, and higher prices.”
