LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Jenny Lu, a senior at Longmeadow High School, has been named the state’s winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition.

Lu’s artwork was selected from more than 30 submissions in the annual competition. Congressman Richard Neal, school staff and Lu’s family gathered at the school on Tuesday to celebrate her achievement.

Lu’s gouache art piece, titled “Fisherman,” will be displayed for one year in the Cannon Rotunda at the U.S. Capitol. She said she drew inspiration for her winning piece from her visits to local markets.

“It’s pretty cool, my inspiration was when I go to supermarkets. I see fish, they’re all dead, but the patterns are very cool, so i was inspired by that,” Lu said.

Lu is currently applying to colleges with aspirations to major in biology and minor in art. Ms. Mitchell, an art teacher at Longmeadow High School, noted that Lu has been a true artist since her freshman year and expressed pride in her accomplishment.

Lu will travel to Washington, D.C., next month to view her artwork along with other winners from across the country.
