Lee, MA – Congressman Richard E. Neal joined Boyd Technologies CEO Stephen Boyd and CCO Matthew Boyd for a tour of their advanced materials and technology company and discussion of their response to COVID-19. The facility in Lee is currently scaling up production for personal protective equipment (PPE), including surgical masks and N95 respirators. According to the company, they will have annual capacity of 60 million pieces of PPE in 2021. In addition, Boyd Technologies is working with FreMon Scientific, a San Diego, California-based company to manufacture and produce their ZipSleeve™. This disposable sleeve fits into the ZipThaw™ device for a safe, portable way to transport and thaw plasma. Both of these instruments will play an important role as the nation continues to discover new therapies and vaccines to combat this pandemic. “The work that is being done right here in Lee is helping our nation address the health and economic crises it faces due to the pandemic,” said Congressman Neal. “Ultimately, our economy won’t recover until we beat the virus. That is why Boyd Technologies’ work is so important, as is their partnership with FreMon Scientific. As Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, I look forward to working with the Biden-Harris Administration to continue to support the life sciences industries. Not only are they important to our health as a nation, they drive the economy across Massachusetts.” “It’s a great honor to host Congressman Neal and FreMon Scientific at Boyd Technologies as we embark on the next chapter in the fight against COVID-19,” said Stephen Boyd. “We continue to see extraordinary developments in the life sciences and medical device markets. Breakthrough technologies and innovations are improving the lives of the patients we serve now more than ever. Partners like FreMon Scientific help us advance health care together. Congressman Neal has been a crucial partner in supporting our plans and working to ensure that we permanently stabilize critical medical supply chains in America.” “FreMon Scientific is dedicated to the safe and efficient processing and use of lifesaving blood, plasma and tissue products,” said CEO Farideh Bischoff. “Our breakthrough technology platform, ZipThaw™, is the next generation of blood plasma thawing and comes at a critical time for the life sciences industry. We’re thrilled to be here today with Congressman Neal to celebrate our partnership with Boyd Technologies and discussion our exciting growth plans.” Those growth plans include expansion of our cleanroom manufacturing capabilities which support high volume manufacturing across single use assemblies, in-vitro diagnostics, drug delivery and fluid management, and stick to skin devices. While at the site, Congressman Neal also took the time to meet with employees and thank them for their work during the pandemic. “You are part of our frontline workers,” Neal said. “We are so thankful for the work that you do here at Boyd to ensure that our PPE needs are being met and new technologies are brought to life. On behalf of a grateful nation, ‘thank you.’” More information about Boyd Technologies can be found here and information on FreMon Scientific can be found here. ## |
