Chairman Neal Statement on Trump Administration’s Proposed Rule to Protect Non-ACA-Compliant Health Plans

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Today, House Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal expressed his concern over the Trump Administration’s proposed rule that would protect workplace health plans that don’t meet all of the Affordable Care Act’s regulations:

“Once again, the Trump Administration is siding with big business and insurers rather than working Americans. Instead of taking action to reduce out-of-pocket costs for working families, today’s proposed rule would expose consumers to additional expenses when receiving care. Families should not have to face additional health care costs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This proposed rule only further highlights the Administration’s mismanagement of this ongoing economic and public health crisis. House Democrats will continue fighting to ensure families have access to affordable health care, and to protect vulnerable Americans during these challenging times.”
