SPRINGFIELD, MA – Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): “Thirty years ago, during my first term in Congress, we passed the Americans with Disabilities Act to make way for a more inclusive and supportive America. This landmark civil rights victory showed that Americans with disabilities have a rightful place in our society and deserve to fully participate in their communities. From accessible public spaces to expanded services to promote independent living, the ADA removed barriers to inclusion and transformed life for the millions of Americans living with disabilities. While we celebrate this milestone, we must continue to work towards fulfilling the ideals of equality and opportunity for people with disabilities.” ### |
