Following the request of Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) and Committee Democrats, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) today announced new guidance to help the American people navigate the recently announced extension of both the April 15 income tax filing and payment deadlines to July 15 for individuals and businesses. Ways and Means Democrats called on Department of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to provide an update on the impact of the coronavirus on the 2020 tax filing season earlier this month, and last week, Chairman Neal called on Secretary Mnuchin to extend the income tax filing deadline to line up with the previously extended payment deadline.
