Chairman Neal Statement on House Passage of the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Enhancement Act
Washington, DC,
June 29, 2020
Today, House Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement applauding the House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 1425, the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Enhancement Act: “Today, House Democrats acted decisively to do right by the American people in passing the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Enhancement Act, legislation that will lower premium costs, slash drug prices, and allow more than 4 million uninsured Americans to gain health care coverage. I’m pleased that the Ways and Means Committee contributed key provisions to the bill that will lower health care expenses for millions of people. “While House Democrats are tirelessly working to expand Americans’ access to affordable health care, Republicans seek to dismantle existing law without any viable replacement. As we weather the most serious public health crisis in recent memory, the GOP remains dead set on invalidating our health care system and removing protections for people with preexisting conditions when they are needed most. The contrast could not be more stark. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to work with us in making this timely legislation law.” ### |
