Neal Commemorates National Public Schools Week
Springfield, MA,
February 25, 2022
Today, Congressman Richard E. Neal, Chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means, recognized the final day of National Public Schools Week which ran from February 21st– 25th. The American Recue Plan, that Congressman Neal helped pass and was signed into law in March 2021, secured $355 million for K-12 schools in Massachusetts’ First Congressional District. This important funding ensured that school districts could open safely and make up for lost learning time during and through the height of the COVID pandemic. Nationwide, the American Rescue Plan provided $130 billion for schools to stay open, and an additional $10 billion to help schools conduct COVID-19 testing for students and staff. “All students should have access to safe, welcoming, and well-funded public schools,” said Congressman Neal. “Thanks to the historic investment from the American Rescue Plan, our schools are better equipped to safely stay open while navigating the challenges presented by the pandemic.” A complete list of schools who received funding in CD-1 can be found HERE. ## |
