Neal Statement on Mexico Fulfilling Key USMCA Requirement

Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after Mexico published a resolution aimed at banning imports made with forced labor—a key requirement of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement:

“Freeing workers from forced labor is a global responsibility, and it’s promising that Mexico is taking steps to uphold its commitment under the USMCA to prohibit the importation of products made with forced labor. While USMCA stands as a beacon of what’s possible, Ways and Means Democrats expect all of our trading partners to hold themselves to the same standards. Our trade policy reflects our values, and we must be aggressive in putting an end to these atrocities around the world."
