SPRINGFIELD — Employers will gather Monday at Springfield Technical Community College to talk about preparing potential applicants for jobs that businesses are having trouble filling. U.S. Rep. Richard Neal is the keynote speaker. The event is organized by the college and the Western Massachusetts chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association, a local trade organization of precision manufacturers. There will also be a panel discussion on how smaller companies can do business with defense contractors. The event lasts from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the seventh floor of Scibelli Hall. Recruiters from General Dynamics in Pittsfield will be on hand to talk to any STCC students or graduates about careers at their company. Neal answered questions about work force issues Thursday during a talk in front of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts. He described the importance of community colleges and vocational high schools. To register, visit www.eventbrite.com and search “WMNTMA” or “STCC.” |
