Today, Ways and Means Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) February 2023 jobs report:

“The numbers don’t lie. With 311,000 jobs created in February, our economy continuing to grow, and wages rising, Democrats’ transformative action last Congress is making a real difference in the lives of American workers and their families. After two years of consecutive growth, it’s time for Republicans to turn from threatening default to join us in unlocking our workforce’s full potential by advancing universal paid leave, affordable child care, and career pathways for workers.

“Recently, the Biden Administration put their money where their mouth is by ensuring workers at manufacturing plants benefitting from the landmark CHIPS and Science Act are guaranteed child care. I look forward to continuing to work with the Administration to ensure Ways and Means Democrats’ priorities remain critical parts of building an economy from the bottom-up and the middle-out.
