Neal Statement on Jacob J. Lew’s Nomination to Serve as Ambassador to Israel

Congressman Richard E. Neal released the following statement today after President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Jacob “Jack” Lew to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Israel.
“Jack Lew has had an esteemed career in public service, ascending to the esteemed positions of Director of OMB, White House Chief of Staff, and Secretary of the Treasury. I have had the pleasure of witnessing his intellect and diplomatic prowess throughout his career, going back to his days as an aide to Joe Moakley and Senior Advisor to House Speaker Tip O'Neill. These qualities made him indispensable within the Clinton and Obama administrations, and they are qualities that make him the ideal nominee to serve as the next Ambassador to Israel. Once confirmed by the Senate, he will play a prominent role in strengthening our longstanding relations with our vital ally Israel, and I look forward to working with the Ambassador-Designate on a host of issues.”
