Neal Statement on U.S.-Brazil Partnership for Workers’ Rights
Washington, D.C.,
September 20, 2023
Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Biden Administration announced a new bilateral labor initiative with Brazil: “The Lula Administration has ushered in a new era in Brazil, prioritizing human and workers’ rights. Today’s bilateral agreement puts workers at the center of our economic partnership and proves that common ground can be found through our shared values. It is these shared values that will guide our continued work with the Lula Administration to deliver opportunities for all. House Democrats have led the way for worker-centric trade policies, and we will never waver in our commitment to upholding workers’ rights and protecting our environment through trade. When workers thrive, our economies thrive, and I applaud the Biden Administration for never losing sight of that.”
