Neal Statement on Biden Administration’s Continued Action to Lower Drug Prices
Washington, D.C.,
October 3, 2023
Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement applauding the Biden Administration's announcement that the manufacturers of the first ten prescription drugs to be negotiated by Medicare under the Inflation Reduction Act have signed agreements to participate in the drug pricing negotiation program:
“When Ways and Means Democrats delivered the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, we committed to putting an end to Big Pharma’s 'profits over people' practice that forced too many Americans to forgo their lifesaving medical care. Today’s announcement is the next step in making good on that promise. With the manufacturers of the ten common, costly drugs selected for the first Medicare price negotiation ready to participate, we are well on our way to giving America’s seniors and people with disabilities much-needed breathing room on their health care costs. We have the blueprint to expand these savings to all Americans, and won’t stop until we deliver the affordable, accessible health care system the people deserve.” |
