Neal Statement on Higgins Retirement

House Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after Ways and Means Committee Member Congressman Brian Higgins (D-NY) announced his departure from Congress effective February 2024:
“No one has worked harder for the people of Western New York than Congressman Brian Higgins. For nearly two decades, he has dedicated every day to creating a better life for his constituents, and the American people. From expanding economic security to strengthening Western New York through redevelopment and greater health care access, Brian has been an accomplished member of the Ways and Means Committee. His service has been defined by his focus, ingenuity, and ability to infuse the latest data into every comment.
“The Congress and Western New Yorkers will miss Brian’s tenacity and advocacy, and I will be among many who will miss a dear friend and fellow history buff. I wish him and his family nothing but the best in this next chapter.”
