Today, Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the record-breaking 2024 Open Enrollment period: 

“The success of the Affordable Care Act shows what well-thought-out, well-executed, and well-funded government can do. Democrats’ commitment to this lifesaving law has made it possible for the 2024 Open Enrollment to break another record all while fending off more Republican attacks. Now, 21.3 million Americans have enrolled and our commitment to defending the Affordable Care Act is clearer than ever.

“The Affordable Care Act has quickly become a key pillar of our nation’s well-being: more Americans are insured today than ever before, and the millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions can rely on enhanced consumer protections that protect them from prejudice. Ways and Means Democrats have led the charge on defending and strengthening the ACA without a single Republican vote, and the American people can count on us to continue the fight towards making high-quality, affordable health care a reality for all.”
