Today, Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) February 2024 jobs report:

“President Biden addressed the nation last night about the progress and potential of the American people, and today marks three straight years of historic growth under him. There’s no better proof point of success than the security of a good paycheck, and we’re just getting started. Democrats knew better than to bet against the American worker. Instead, we rewrote the playbook by listening to workers and putting them at the heart of our economy, propelling wages and wealth to new heights. 

“The results of our investments in America’s communities continue to break records, creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs in manufacturing and green energy while lowering health care costs for millions. We know the roadmap to unlocking even more opportunity: expanding the Child Tax Credit and investing in workplace supports like paid leave and child care. While Republicans are trying tooth and nail to drag us backwards, Democrats are looking ahead to investing in all of America through every American.”
