Neal Statement on the President’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget

Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on President Biden's Fiscal Year 2025 budget: "As our economy continues to break records, the President's Fiscal Year 2025 budget makes good on Democrats’ promises to the American people. From lowering costs for working families to defending workers’ hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits, this is how you continue to build an economy from the middle-out and the bottom-up. We’re rewriting the playbook, putting the middle class first and ensuring that the wealthy and well-connected are paying their fair share. “The President’s budget delivers on several Ways and Means priorities, including permanently extending ACA premium tax credits, providing comprehensive paid family and medical leave along with child care for working families, restoring the expanded Child Tax Credit, and making meaningful advances in racial equity in our tax system. The Committee’s Racial Equity Initiative and its co-chairs, Rep. Terri Sewell, Rep. Jimmy Gomez, and Rep. Steven Horsford, have been leading the way in building fairer laws and a more prosperous future for all, and I’m grateful to President Biden for his recognition of this key priority. “The contrast could not be clearer: while Democrats want to move us forward, Republicans are dismantling the progress we’ve made. As Republicans, led by the former President, double down on their threats to slash Social Security and Medicare, Democrats won’t be distracted by their conspiracies, chaos, and cuts—we’ll continue to deliver on our vision for the American people: one of potential and prosperity.” |
