Congressman Richard E. Neal released the following statement on the passing of D-Day veteran Samuel James “Jim” Hanna.
“A product of the ‘Greatest Generation,’ Jim Hanna was one of a kind. Much like his fellow servicemembers, he did not ask for special recognition for what took place on June 6, 1944. Jim served with a great sense of patriotism, a quality he carried with him throughout his life. Our nation is better off because of people like Jim Hanna who faithfully serve with great honor to protect our freedoms and promote our democratic values. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. The Springfield community and a grateful nation mourns the loss of a true American hero.”
