Military Service Academy Day held at Springfield Museums

By Sam Elwell, 22 News

The Springfield Museums observed Military Service Academy Day with an annual event hosted by Congressman Richard Neal of Massachusetts.

The event was put on at the D`Amour Museum of Fine Arts Sunday and acts as a way for high school students to begin a path towards military service. 22News spoke to Congressman Neal and explained to 22News how Military Service Academy Day shows students and their families the process and benefits of joining a service academy.

“We want people to see the ambition, the aspiration, and we also want those in the audience to understand that the rigorous process that is undertaken does have, for a lot of people, a very happy end,” Neal said. “This is a remarkable opportunity for a young man and a young woman to attend one of the military academies.”

During the event, two prospective students were recognized as being nominated to attend a service academy.
