Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after Republicans’ latest attempt to revive their failed fishing expedition:

“This latest stunt is all the proof you need to see House Republicans have completely lost the plot. As recently as last week, they were calling the Department of Justice ‘rigged’ and ‘weaponized,’ and now, they are calling on that same agency to be their life preserver out of the biggest failure of their Majority. There’s no getting out of this embarrassment. The American people see their floundering for what it is: successfully proving time and again that there was no wrongdoing by the president while never even bothering to govern.

"This Committee is a legislative body, not a law enforcement entity, and months of the Majority weaponizing the Committee against a private citizen for their political gain has yet to produce a single legislative purpose.  

“Republicans have wasted taxpayer dollars and time, with nothing to show for it. It’s far past time to put this behind the Congress.”
