Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Marketplace Integrity and Affordability Proposed Rule:

“Trump and Republicans are dead set on sabotaging our nation’s health care, leaving the people sicker, broker, and with even more red tape to tackle. It’s a race to undo President Biden’s progress that’ll lead to higher out-of-pocket costs, less coverage, and worse outcomes. Today’s rule will cut people from coverage and make changes to reduce assistance with premium costs, adding even more bureaucracy and paperwork burdens that will be exacerbated by Trump and Republicans who are gutting staffing levels at the IRS. It’s designed to leave the people worse off and comes as Republicans also work to dismantle Medicaid and Social Security, leaving the people nowhere else to turn. It’s beyond cruel and will have life-changing effects on the country’s health.”
