Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after President Trump targeted the Democratic fundraising platform, ActBlue:

“Targeting the infrastructure of your political opponents by weaponizing the federal government is what authoritarians do, and it’s exactly what Trump just did. He’s the king of corruption: pardoning his political allies, rubbing elbows with the biggest buyers of his cryptocurrency, shutting down investigations into his own wrongdoing, to name just a few. Yet somehow, he thinks the American people will buy his latest charade of targeting ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform, as a crackdown on corruption. Noticeably absent is a request to investigate WinRed, the Republican fundraising platform. As his agenda and economy flail, we are seeing his desperation morph into hamstringing his opponents and rigging our systems in his favor. It’s wrong and against the law.”
