Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the President released his latest budget proposal that betrays the American people:

“The President’s latest proposal is just the next step in an agenda rooted in cruelty— targeting families trying to get by while shielding those at the top. His cruel, chaotic, and deeply unserious rollout is leaving seniors and working families in the dark, unsure if the services they depend on will survive his reckless cuts. It’s a direct attack on people’s dignity and a clear sign of whose side he’s on. As if his marquee legislation wasn’t betrayal enough, this deepens the damage on working Americans already reeling from the President’s chaos. 

“With help from Congressional Republicans, under the President’s watch, essential services are being gutted, vulnerable communities are being left behind, and seniors have been left to navigate systems broken by his own mismanagement. President Trump is tearing down government not to help people, but to enrich himself and his allies.

“This isn’t a budget for the American people. It’s a roadmap to rob them in service of the those in the President’s ear.”
