Congressman Richard Neal reacts to attacks between Israel and Iran

By Olivia Lemmon, Spectrum News

Iran launches a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel in retaliation an unprecedented attack that targeted Iranian expanding nuclear program and killed several top Iranian military leaders.

The U.S. military reportedly is helping Israel intercept the missiles fired in Iran’s counterstrike.

Local leaders are weighing in on the conflict.

Massachusetts Democratic Congressman Richard Neal is hopeful the two sides can negotiate a plan before things escalate.

"I hope it will send a signal to Iran that they need to go back to the agreement that President Obama was able to negotiate which had the broad support of all of Western Europe” said Congressman Neal. “I don't think that anybody wants Iran to be enriching uranium for the purposes of constructing nuclear weaponry."

Congressman Neal said he hopes it doesn't grow into a bigger conflict in the Middle East.
