LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Two graduate programs at Bay Path University received money to help students and faculty achieve the education they deserve.

Nearly $3 million in federal grants were awarded to Bay Path University and will go directly to its healthcare programs. Congressman Richard Neal presented the grants Tuesday morning inside the Health Science Center on the East Longmeadow campus.

The Physician Assistant Studies graduate program will receive $1.5 million over the next five years. Also, the graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling will receive more than $1.4 million over the next four years, which is funded from the American Rescue Plan.

“Bay Path University has been a leader in these fields and the scrutiny that goes into the application process is immense and I think they speak to the idea of how healthcare is delivered in the future,” Neal said. “There is going to be more outpatient care. We couldn’t be more thrilled just to be part of this solution to bring more care in terms of quality and quantity to the region.”

The grants will bring more programs to the area and more opportunities for workforce development.
