SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and other public leaders announced the contractors for the $51.3 million Court Square Building renovation on Elm Street.

The Fontaine Brothers will renovate the building into retail space and six floors of more than 50 market-rate apartments. MGM Springfield is a financial partner on the project. It was part of their host agreement with the city to create this market rate housing.

“This continues my administration’s efforts on public and private partnerships for economic development,” said Domenic Sarno during a news event Wednesday morning. “I am happy that we’re able to now have this dream come to fruition.”

Mayor Sarno added that much of the interior work has already been done but the bulk of the work is expected to pick up in the fourth quarter of 2021.
