Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the latest CMS guidance

“Today’s announcement makes one thing clear: the Trump Administration gave up on lowering Americans’ health care costs before they even tried. Rather than working with Democrats to address the rising premiums caused by years of Republican sabotage and inaction, they are settling for selling out consumers with worse coverage at a higher cost.

“Americans don’t have more to spend on their health care costs as the Trump economy squeezes them for every dime. Families want insurance that actually covers their care, not the junk, catastrophic-only coverage Republicans are peddling. The success of the expanded Affordable Care Act Premium Tax Credits has been well proven, with more people covered today than ever before. Extending these credits would lower premiums for high-quality coverage, but Republicans are the only thing standing in their constituents’ way.”
