Washington, DC
(WWLP) – Congressman Richard Neal commented on the possibility of allowing more Syrian refugees into Massachusetts.
The Congressman made his comments on Tuesday after Governor Charlie Baker said on Monday that he opposed allowing more refugees into the state after the terrorist attacks in Paris, saying terrorists could pose as refugees to enter our state.
Congressman Neal says Refugees should be allowed into the U.S., but only after strict background checks. He said, “I think after careful vetting and security and background checks, I think it’s reasonable to expect that we can resettle some of the Syrian refugees.”
Several governors are temporarily halting efforts to allow Syrian refugees into their states after terrorists connected to the Paris attacks may have posed as refugees to enter France.
